They are exploring the concept of synesthesia through the artwork of Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), who experimented with diverse geometrical shapes. Sec. 5 Students at OASIS Surf1/18/2023 Our secondary 5 Physical Education students have been lucky to go on a field trip to Oasis Surf at the Dix30. A huge congratulations to Leena, who managed a 360 spin. Now let's see if Ms. Hughes improves as each group visits! Look at those smiles!

With the loving and generous effort of the entire SLI community, we raised 5417$ and helped 16 families receive much-needed Christmas baskets for the 2022 holiday season, breaking our previous school record. Thank you, SLI! Let's do even better next year!

Holiday Bake Sale!!12/7/2022 Lots of goodies available today at during recess and lunch as SLI continues to raise funds for Christmas Baskets. A huge thank you to Ms. Hughes for organizing and baking up a storm, to all staff who contributed baked goods and a huge shout to Ms. Karen Brown, Mr. Chan's wife, for making half of the treats herself! Elementary School Outreach11/11/2022 This week, SLI students engaged in outreach projects at elementary schools, working with Cycle 3 students to discuss the topic of Remembrance. Thank you to our friends at Saint Mary's, Saint Laurence and Saint Jude's schools. These events were organized by Mr. Chan, Ms. Patty, Ms. Jensen, Mme. Marie-Josée and Ms. Plante. The SLI community was honoured to host Mr. Tom Dearhouse, Mohawk and Ojibway traditional support counsellor, as we learned in community about our national and personal efforts toward Truth and Reconciliation. Mr. Tom was a warm and special guest who shared his stories and songs. Thank you for the gift of your time and teachings, and we hope to see you again soon. Orange Shirt Day will be taking place on Friday, September 30th at SLI. |
